LLM Legal Research Curriculum

During this two-year LLM programme, students develop their research skills through course work and by conducting their own independent research projects within the legal field of their interest and their research profile. Throughout this process students are taught by highly acclaimed specialists. Classes have a maximum of 25 students. The research projects can take on various forms depending on the personal interest and ambition of each student: a PhD proposal, an academic publication, a contribution to an ongoing faculty research programme or the organisation of a seminar or conference. Special facilities are made available to LRM students. Every student has a personal tutor who supervises the progress and advises on the research profile.

The Master’s programme offers students an excellent introduction into the academic community and a profound preparation for securing a PhD position. For students who are contemplating a career as a practicing lawyer, or who are still weighing both options, this programme offers the possibility for in depth specialisation, making them especially attractive for large international law firms, and governmental and non-governmental organisations.
