 About our Research

At the Montaigne Centre are researchers from all discipline groups and the School of Human Rights Research of Utrecht School of Law. In addition, researchers from the Schools of Governance and Economics participate in the work of the centre.

The research falls within the university’s focus areas '
Origins and Impacts of Institutions', 'Conflicts and Human Rights', and 'Coordinating Societal Change'.

The research of the Montaigne Centre is linked to the
School of Human Rights Research and the Ius Commune Research School. Furthermore, the centre cooperates with researchers from the Ethics Institute and the Centre for Conflict Studies of Utrecht University.

The research Projects of the Montaigne Center for Justice Administration and Conflict Resolution are listed in the Projects Wiki. They focus on in-depth research, cooperation with third parties (often research on assignment of public institutions) and international academic cooperation. In the next few months you may expect this list to expand and to cover a large variety of subjects in our fields of interest: judicial procedure, court administration and conflict resolution from criminal, civil and administrative law, legal theory and public administration perspectives. Ombudsman institutions, mediation, judicial and court ethics, international courts, international judicial cooperation are subjects we will address in the next few years.
