Christiaan van Bochove (1980) studied history in Utrecht, where he graduated in 2003 on a thesis on the quantitative aspects of the early modern Dutch herring fisheries. After that he has worked on his PhD thesis at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam. The resulting dissertation – titled
The economic consequences of the Dutch. Economic integration around the North Sea, 1500-1800
– was defended at Utrecht University in 2008. After a temporary appointment as lecturer he currently works at Utrecht University as postdoc researcher within the project
The evolution of financial markets in pre-industrial Europe
. His interest is mainly in the economic history of The Netherlands / Northern Europe during the early modern period.
